I wanted to spend a couple months creating a functional prototype for a multiplayer game where you control helicopters. My idea for the game was that the helicopter would be purposefully difficult to control by requiring the player to control its pitch, yaw, and roll individually. In addition to this, the opposing player fires tar balls that stick to your vehicle, and cause it to automatically rotate towards a certain direction periodically. These mechanics are designed around making it easy to crash into surrounding terrain and blow up.
My primarily goal with this project was to gain more technical experience in prototyping multiplayer functionality in Unreal Engine 5. The challenges I faced through the development process gave me valuable insight into designing games with multiplayer architecture in mind.
